Last Wednesday, Conway Academy wrapped up an incredible Better World Week with schoolwide service projects, volunteer readers from the community, a family literacy picnic, kindness rock painting, and a closing circle celebration. Better World Week is an important part of the Conway community, providing students and staff with meaningful opportunities to engage in service connected to expeditions and contribute to making the community a better place to live. Throughout the week, Conway truly lived its motto: “We are Crew, not Passengers!”
This year’s work focused on the idea of cultivating community, that building bridges can unite people and strengthen communities. Students and staff built a symbolic bridge, planted indigenous plants in the Tiny Forest, and collaborated to build and paint a cinder block Labyrinth. Students also participated in meaningful service learning projects across grade levels, including a neighborhood trash cleanup, a community potluck celebrating identity and belonging, environmental awareness projects, pollinator planting, and building a compost system with worms. Better World Week was a powerful reminder that by working together, Conway can continue to build and strengthen a community where everyone belongs and where hearts are united as one.

Here are this week’s updates and reminders.
